The Government Tit

Why we shouldn’t rely on government
This administration wants us to be like Europe, with large portions of the population dependent on government. Our Congress finds it difficult to cut government agencies and programs because they’re afraid people will complain.
We are being robbed of opportunity to exercise our responsibility to care for our neighbors by government programs. Traditionally, people in a community helped each other. When government takes over that role, people become distant from their neighbors. They lose interest in the needs in the community when they expect government to take care of it.  So, here ya go.  Lemme ask ya Sheila, if you were diagnosed with incurable say...cancer.  Think you could knock on your neighbor's door and say, "hey, I'm dyin of cancer how 'bout you chippin in a bunch of money for my hospitalization?"  What do you suppose your neighbor would say..."Uh, I'd like to Sheila, but you know, my wife and I are going through a difficult time with the economy and such, we simply don't have any dough to give away."  Come on Shelia, get real.  Your neighbors are not gonna take care of you when you get sick and hurt and can't work.  Only the government can do that.  Even insurance companies have 'limits' as to what they'll pay for and for how long they'll pay for it.  No Sheila, you my dear would be out in the cold and could possibly die because you simply cannot afford the treatment.  That's what the government is good for...help that we cannot afford on our own.  Government is for our aid when no one else can aid us.
But when government takes care of it, the quality of the care declines. People helping their neighbors give from the heart. How much heartfelt concern comes from a clerk at a government agency?  Again you are wrong.  Often the level of care actually increases when Government steps in.  They have 'standards' or the provider does not get paid and let's face it, the provider really, really wants to get paid.  I worked in the hospital system and we had to conform to an agency called JACO.  Without their okay, we could not receive funding.  The hospital bent over backwards to conform.  As a result the level of care went up...not down.
Government agencies waste a lot of money paying staff and rent that doesn’t get wasted when aid goes directly from person to person.  Oh my God Sheila, do you know how far off the mark you are?  Aid would never go from 'person-to-person' without some stipulations.  People do not just 'give away' money without strings.  In fact, people generally have a whole bunch of strings when the cash is a large payout. That's why insurance companies were formed.  They created a fund to pay for huge bills and people who had devastating diseases could still get help.  Staff?  People who give large sums away have big staffs, m'dear.
Neighbors helping each other have an interest in solving the problem. Government agencies’ interest is in perpetuating the problem so as to maintain the need for their agency.  Oh phooie.  The government fund tons of research facilities to 'solving the problem.'  No single person can do that.  Even Microsoft chief Bill Gates can afford to do that.  There ain't enough money in 'personal' hands to fix our health problems.
We should urge our congresspersons to close government agencies, placing neighborly assistance back in the community, where it belongs.  Believe it or not Sheila, this has actually been tried before and it fails every time.  Neighbors would rather pay Taxes to take care of this problem than get involved...people are busy, Sheila and cannot be bothered with this added problem.
Placing more people under government assistance, as this administration wants to do, puts
us at risk of becoming like Britain and Greece, where people accustomed to depending on the government are rioting because the government has run out of resources — which is what inevitably happens when they try to take care of more and more people.  Sheila, you really don't understand welfare and the people who receive it.  While it is true some folks scam the system, the large majority [95%] of recipients want to get off the rolls and if work was offered, they would jump at the chance to get back to work.  Being on welfare is belittling.  A person with an ounce of ego hates it and wants off just as soon as possible.  Mr Obama wants to create jobs so people receiving welfare can get off the government dole.  Sheila, you are very, very misguided, but I understand how you feel...you think people are naturally lazy and with government aid they can remain so.  You m'dear are a bigot and don't even know it.  You are also a homophobic.  I really feel kinda sorry for you.  You need education before you open yourself in print.
   Sheila Ford, Caldwell
