Education Cuts

 CALDWELL — Caldwell School District’s board of trustees approved a $45.6 million budget for the coming school year that cuts pay for teachers and eliminates 13 positions through attrition and transfers.

   Lisa Thompson, the district’s director of business services, said the cuts were based on a reduction to general fund revenue of about $2.73 million. That includes a 5.2 percent cut in state funding, funds associated with about 200 students the district expects to lose to the new Heritage Community Charter School and other eliminated state programs.
